Sara has always had a love for animals, as far back as she could remember, from a very young age. She wanted to be a veterinarian when she grew since the age of 5. The first dog she ever trained was her Rottweiler Bear when she was in middle school. Fast-forward to 2005, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science at the University of Vermont. While studying at UVM, Sara was selected out of several applicants to be chosen for an internship working at a marsupial research facility with kangaroos and wallabies during her semester abroad in Sydney, Australia.
While studying at the University of Vermont, Sara was again selected out of several applicants for an internship at a Canine Behavior & Rehabilitation Center as a dog training assistant working with highly reactive dogs.
During her time at the university, on summer breaks she worked as a paraprofessional at a special education school for three years, teaching and caring for children with all levels of disabilities. Then, she was hired as a private respite care provider for two boys with autism, one verbal, one non verbal.
Sara has always had a love and passion for not only animals but children and people, too. She realized the similarities between working with dogs and children. Having lots of patience and being consistent and structured was very important when dealing with different behavioral challenges.
Since graduating in 2005, Sara has worked for a variety of dog training facilities, organizations, and non-profits specializing in canine behavior modification, personal protection, narcotics & bomb detection, service dogs for veterans, socialization and obedience training of all breeds, all ages and all temperaments.
Over 10 years of managing and organizing various fundraising events for local law enforcement, military, veteran, service & shelter dog non-profits was her passion when she was not training her clients’ dogs. Sara is a mother to 3 beautiful children who are her world, as well as a dog mom to her handsome black German Shepherd Nero, who was from the Netherlands who was originally shipped overseas for the Boston K9 Unit.
Sara would always bring her three beautiful children with her to clients' homes to walk, pet sit, and train their dogs, as they always welcomed her and her children with open arms. They were all like family.
Her children always enjoyed helping her with the dogs, and she always put a smile on her client's faces when seeing the interaction and love between their dogs and her children.
Sara has been working professionally in the canine training, care, and holistic wellness industry for over 20 years. Sara established a successful dog training, pet sitting, and dog walking company in 2006 with over 15 employees at one point in time, several working for her from 3-12 years.
She has over 20 years of professional experience with private in-home training for clients needing help with canines of all ages, all breeds, and all temperaments. She trained hundreds of dogs with a variety of issues ranging from puppy manners, housebreaking, behavior modification, human aggression, dog aggression, and off-leash training.
Her goal and success was the rehabilitation of dogs, delivering them from fear, anxiety, aggression, and more. Her happy clients would report saying their dogs were calm, confident, and well-mannered.
Sara has taught hundreds of clients the confidence and skills to help them become strong, confident leaders in their homes, implementing structure, order, rules, and boundaries. Learning the balance of correction and discipline while also earning love, affection, and attention, in turn, helped her clients apply these skills to their personal family life and human relationships.
Her goal has always been to improve not only the livelihood of the dog but also the client because they are both in a symbiotic relationship, and the health of that relationship is equally important for success in life.
Sara now owns a beautiful black German Shepherd named Jericho, who was a huge answer to prayer by her three children and is the inspiration for rebranding her business.
She is currently working on several dog training and children’s books she is excited about sharing with you all very soon. Stay tuned.
Sara’s love for people and animals shines through in everything she does, and she is looking forward to working with each and every one of you, especially your dogs and your family.
